new house covered in chalky paint...how to remove?

    Seal the brickwork with Clear Stabilising Solution, preferrably a solvent-based solution.

    Under no circumstances should you paint over chaulky surfaces!

    You will create even more hassle for yourself! If it's just the red bricks that are caulk, use, as aforementioned, a solvent stabilising solution. Macpherson, Crown Trade or Leyland all have one. Be careful if you use Sandtex as they have a water-based one - not as good on brick work.

    It might be worth stabilising the white base while you're at it. After that, if you must you can paint over the brickwork - and paint the white base etc., etc.
