Planning our first nursery!

Hi, my little gitl is 7 weeks old now. I'd advise waiting to get things other than the pushchair and cot until the last possible moment. We ended up having to buy no clothes whatsoever due to the amount she got as presents and the amount of clothes and other baby equipment we were given from friends second hand.
We havent a changing table. I keep all of her changing stuff on a bookcase so no scrabbling through drawers etc to find it and we use the free changing mat you get with the huggies set via the boots parenting club. If you havent joined this you should, for both of you so two lots of vouchers. We did start out just using a towel and any accidents just go straight through so use a mat and towel combination to catch everything. We decided to keep the nursery neutral, prefering to wait until she is old enough to tell us how she wants it so its cream and yellow with plain curtains. Definitely get blackout linings.
I'd agree with previous posters 20 sleep suits are way too much. She is in her sleep suits only at night and the washing machine is on about every 3 days for whites so you only need about 4 vests and sleep suits for night wear. Other good advice is to wait until after the birth to buy clothes so you know the sex but also what is practical and what isnt in baby clothes. Nappy access so you dont have to take dungarees off for example. We have a pair she only has had on once as its such a pain to change her nappy.
I breastfeed but express and give her the last feed via a bottle so she can take both for when I go back to work so have found a breast pump and streliser invaluable but would say wait until you find out you are ok to breastfeed before getting a breast pump anyway.
One thing we have found useful is Ikea's face cloths in their baby department with coloured tags on them. We use them instead of cotton wool or wipes for nappy changing. It saves us money as we go through less wipes and cotton wool. Also would recommend washable nappies. Absolutely fabulous, easy to change, easy to wash, and got ours off freecycle so free too.
Enjoy yourselves. Its a really special time.0
