Well done. Typical of big companies to structure these as we are not at fault goodwill gestures. No balls.

    Drivers complain over faulty fuel

A number of motorists are facing vehicle repairs after buying petrol at a supermarket filling station.
Several drivers were left with engine problems after buying the faulty fuel from the Tesco filling station in Rochdale on Thursday morning.
One customer from Worsley found he could not start his Porsche after filling it up.
Tesco said it has had a "handful" of complaints and that it plans to reimburse customers for repairs. Rob Chorlton parked his Porsche in Rochdale town centre after paying for £40 of petrol.

We are in contact with the customers involved to make sure that they are reimbursed for any repairs that may be required

He said it was "sluggish" on the way back from the petrol station, but when he returned to the car park, it would not start.
"I thought I might have put the wrong fuel in, I'd done it before in another car, but when I got down to Tesco, checked the pump, I knew it was unleaded and all the pumps were shut off," he said.
"More people were coming up saying there was a problem with the pumps."
Mr Chorlton said his car will cost about £2,000 to repair.
    Pumps closed
A Tesco spokeswoman said as soon as it was made aware of the problem, the pumps were closed off.
"We have had a handful of reports first thing this morning from customers who have had problems with their cars after filling up with petrol at our Rochdale store," she said.
"This is an isolated incident and we are in contact with the customers involved to make sure that they are reimbursed for any repairs that may be required."
In late February 2007, thousands of drivers reported engine trouble and breakdowns after filling up with unleaded petrol from a number of retailers, including Tesco and Morrisons supermarkets.
Tests on samples of unleaded petrol from a storage facility in Essex found it to be contaminated with silicon, which may indicate the presence of silicone - often added to diesel. The supermarkets paid for repairs on affected vehicles and Tesco printed a full-page apology in several newspapers.
  • My car had a diesel runaway on the 23/07/2009 destroying the engine, I had filled up with over 50ltrs of diesel @ 5.20am in the morning on my way to work at ASDA filling station woolstanton on the A500

My car got to work no problems on the morning of the 23rd and the car ran fine but on the way back from work the engine ran away with itself and destructed.

I have just had a call from the repair garage today, & they have informed me the fuel tank of my car is full of turps. (it has taken me several weeks to source a replacement engine hence the delay)

I would be very interested to hear from anyone in the stoke on trent stafordshire area who has had engine problems after filling up with asda diesel from this fuel station around the 23/07/2009.
