I would like either to custom build myself, or an 'off the shelf' Computer for the purpose of Video Editing, and capable of HD (High Definition) Video at Full Quality.
I have been told that I will need the following :
- Quad Core Processor
- Decent Graphics Card
I was reccomended to :
- Geforce 8800 GT - Approx £100
- Q6600 Processor - Approx £150
These Prices are only approximations, and it is obvious that I can obtain such items cheaper.
I shall be running Pinnacle Video Ultimate Version 12, and/or Sony Vegas. I need an S-Video Output in the Graphics card, and just to clarrify, the Computer needs to be capable of Editing High Definition Footage at a decent quality.
The Person who made the reccomendation knows what he is talking about, but I would like to hear your suggestions too, and most of all try and keep prices down to a minimum, without lacking quality.
I have noticed that the Gefore 9500GT seems to be £100 Cheaper than the 8800GT, and the model number is higher, so is this better?

well the quad core sounds good
usually overkill for most people but handy for video editing so it would be useful.
as for the graphics card

cant go wrong with thatBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -
8800GT and Q660 are pretty dated now.
What's the budget?0 -
Surely for HD video, you'd be looking at a dual DVI card (preferably with OpenGL for rendering) and a DVI to HDMI cable to an HDTV?Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

you're better off with a phenon II x4 and the gts250 is a better deal for a similar price range. but I reckon you might want to look a bit higher, if you're looking for performance0

How much do you expect to get with that? Just Processor, Mobo, RAM and GFX, or do you need to get a PSU, HDD's, OS and case as well? I think you'll be hard pressed to get the parts for that budget.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

I expect to get the processor and graphics card for £300 or under.
I expect to get everything for £400 or under.0 -

I can afford anything I want.
The idea of using the machine, is to Edit it on. I would rather watch a proper television set.0
