Good accomodation in York

Can any body reccomend a good reasonable hotel in York. We are going for a 3day break on 19th July and would be grateful for any suggestions. Thanks:confused:

    Hi Red Lion Lady

My husband and I had a short break in York last summer, and stayed at the Minster Hotel:

The rooms (all ensuite) were fairly basic (we thought they would benefit from a fresh coat of paint, but I think they were planning refurbishments over the winter) but they were clean and pleasant, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The real bonus points for us were there was free car parking and it was right in the very centre of York. The inclusive breakfast was only continental though - you had to pay extra for a cooked one.

Seems a bit on the expensive side even for York
but there are literally hundreds of hotels and B&Bs.
Have a look on the York Website, there are often special offers 3 for 2 etc.

Visit Castle Museum, have a ride on the river, National Railway Museum is free. Yorvik Centre is rubbish and expensive.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I like this place. Its a proper pub with real ale and a nice stroll along the river into town.
