It's the daughters birthday soon and I've just found out (vaguely) what she wants. It's something that she can save things on on her laptop at home and then load them on her computer at college. At first, I thought that it was a floppy disc and being relatively generous I thought that I'd buy her a box of them but I am informed that not all machines now accept these things and further investigation bought forth the phrases "U.S.B." and "1 Gig"
Could someone please suggest a phrase that I could feed into Google which would show what this damn thing is and more more importantly, how much it is going to cost me ?

USB Memory Stick.
Available most places now.....come in differnet sizes so prices vary. If your computer has USB2.0 then getting a USB Memory Stick 2.0 will make it faster to transfer files than a non USB2.0 stick.

The corsair that I linked up has a full spec here.

It has a nice little feature that I didnt know about, you can password protect files, not sure if the others offer this but seems like a good feature.
Edit** 10Year Warranty infact
Just ordered myself one0 -
I haven't checked all of the other suggested links but this one seems to be very good value for a 1Gb USB2 Flashdrive. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Rather than go for the basic pen drive have a look at a 1 Gig MP3 player.
I picked one of these up from the same seller (i think) for about £21 including delivery.
Although they say they're UK shipping they're not but it arrived in about 7 - 10days.
As well as being able to transfer info as she wants it's also an MP3 player, note taker and phone book.0
