Good deal or not??
we just put a deposit on a 54 Skoda superb 1.9 elegance.
its on sale for 7.995 but they will px our 12 yr old 270 merc, its 27000 miles high spec and comes with a good warranty etc etc,
before we do the 300mile trip to go see it, i wandered if anyone had any real problems with the skoda? i dont know anyone that owns one.
hubby is happy with the Skoda but id rather stick to a merc (what im used to i suppose)
so i thought id get another opinion as wives do:rotfl:( but mother not good on car's...lol)
many thanks

Skoda is part of the VW / Audi group and the Superb is in essence a stretched VW Passat. As far as I know they are good cars - used by many taxi companies for larger private hire.
I've not had that particular Skoda, but did run an Octavia with the 1.9 diesel engine, it was a really good car, reliable and economical.0 -
Is it this one?

Looks a bit pricey to me compared with, say, this one.

Cornwall to Warrington. That's a long drive to see a car.0 -
Seems a tad pricey. 6,500 seems more realistic. This car wont hit much over 4,000 in an auction house.Mortgage free

there is nothing wrong with Warrington!!
However, I wouldn't buy a car of Stephen as he is extreemly dear and had about 7 cars in stock. All inside a little old converted shop front lol.
Stephen bought a Volvo off me a few years ago as a trade sale, asked me to delete it from my advert, then sold it to a member of his family at an extra grand! Lol...0 -
As this involves a Skoda I suggest also posting on the forums at https://www.briskoda.net and you can read through the problems people have posted with these cars
Skoda badge = high depreciation, but means you get a little more for your money.

many thanks to all
much to hubby's anoyance i wanted a warranty, i wouldnt entertain sold as seen after replacing an gearbox on a previous car we hadnt owned for long (i know it can happen to any car) so i expect to pay a bit more.
i just love the merc i suppose and looking for reasons to argue the downsides of the Skoda,
as for distance LandyAndy a couple of days away from the kids is an added bonus
thanks again0 -
