New Deal 25+

My DH JSA expires next week after 26 weeks. I've been looking at Job centr replus website and have come across the New deal 25+ scheme. It seems ok but one of the criteria is that he has to have been on JSA for 18 months. How can this be when is runs out after 26 weeks?

WIll he be able to go on this or not?

TIA for any info

You can continue to sign for credits (or for income based JSA if you qualify) after the 26 weeks.
    Gone ... or have I?

I very much doubt DH will get income based JSA as I work full time. He has been told he has to still sign on but will only get his 'stamp' paid nothing else. If he doesn't get income based JSA I think he won't be able to get in the ND scheme.

    ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    Thanks

I have been getting IB JSA for about 10 weeks, at a signing I asked about help with retraining costs, this was put onto the computer and I was telephoned up.

The lady I spoke too said I could claim for many `new deal` things, ie a suit, shoes and interview travel costs, also if I got a job they would fund the 1st months travel card,
They would not pay for the training i wanted.

I'd be careful about making any plans for your husband to be still unemployed for another year as this is surely not something you really want.

Depending on his existing qualifications, many college courses will be free so he could retrain this way.
