damaged engagement ring

Hi all,

My partners engagement ring has been damaged, the stone has dropped out of it, and we've no idea where it is.

We dont have home contents insurance (yes, I know, I know...!)

I bought the ring about 18 months back on credit card. Is there anything we can do regarding claiming on the automatic insurance credit cards provide?

My knowledge of this area is pitiful and claiming on card insurance isnt something I've done before. Would the goods still be covered after 18 months? Any other tips or areas I need to know about?

And this may not be the correct forum, but can I still take it back to the jewellers? - cant say I am particularly happy about their product, I bought it from a reputable jewellers in Hatton Gardens in London, for those who know the area. I still have the valuation certificate and of course the credit card statement with proof of purchase.

Many thanks
Mike
