fitting bannister/handrail - costs?/how to guide?

Hiya

Another question for you guys as our rennovations continue. So far you have helped with our telephone master socket/cabling and fixing our dodgy ceiling :D

We need to put in a new handrail/spindles etc running up our stairs. We've had a quote for the wood from local company and it'll work out about £60-£100 for the wood which I am happy with.

We might pay someone to fit it...but does anyone know roughly how long it would take a joiner to fit and how much they would charge....or, as husband is always up for a new challenge, does anyone know of any good diy guides out there that show you the right way to fit it (and is it fairly easy?

It took my old landlord, who had just completed a City & Guilds in joinery, a couple of days and much frustration. As I recall most of the problems centred around the newel posts.
