I HATE Sky!

Sorry fancied a rant. We are with Sky (everything TV, broadband, line rental the lot). Moving at the end of the month, getting a much more competitive package with Virgin.

Called Sky, gave them the required 31 days notice, was advised that TV to be cut off in 31 days, broadband within 10-30 days, phone within 48 hours!

I can't believe it! I NEED a house phone for the next month, and I need broadband too! I have paid in advance and they tell me they credit it back - but what good's that I need the service! He said they cut off the phone to stop people running up a big bill (I always pay my bills TVM and even though I have cancelled I'm still obliged to pay for what I use??), and I don't even understand what is up with the broadband....

Also, will broadband even work without a live phone line? Has anyone else experienced this? I will never go back to Sky :mad::mad:

Once your line is switched off, the broadband will not work either! So how can they quote you phone off in 48 hours and broadband in 10-30 days? Sounds like you CS rep requires 'retraining'. I would call back and ask for clarification, then if necessary escalate it to the next tier.
As long as your DD is still in place when they take the final payment, what is their issue with a 'big bill'?
Sorry, but the advice you have been given sounds nonsensical.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I know! I said to him (although not 100% myself although feeling more confident now that you have mentioned it!) that everyone knows you need a live phone line to have broadband.....

"Sorry it's company policy" - moron! I am so angry!

Phone back, and speak to someone else. It sounds like you hit a bit of an idiot on the last call.

The person that my OH spoke to originally said the same thing, tbh I can't be bothered to waste my time, I'll just take my credit that gets issued and they will never have my custom again (nor will BT! There's another story!).

It took me two years to get £40 out of Sky that they owed me when I moved previously and cut them off, unfortunately at our flat now we had no option but to use Sky but from now on it's Virgin all the way! Fingers crossed they get the credit right for the broadband and landline or heads will roll.....

Sorry you feel that way. I've generally had good experiences with Sky customer service. Their TV is a different matter altogether though.

    Good luck with Virgin :)

Oh blimey, from my experiences of Virgin, this seems to be one of those "out of the frying pan" situations :)

See Virgin were good when I was with them before, but before that NTL were USELESS! It's all swings and roundabouts isn't it! At least with Virgin I'll be paying less! :money:
