Am I worrying over nothing?

Hi

I have just sold an item for £95 through BIN, the buyer paid straight away through Paypal and the address is confirmed, the only thing is, the buyer has 0 feedback, the account has been held since August 2005.

Im just a little wary mainly due to the price of the item.

Ill be sending the item by Parcelforce 48, so it will be tracked, is there anything else I should do?

Am I worrying over nothing?

Make sure the payment appears in your PP account.
Compare the PP address and the ebay address.
Consider looking them up on 192.com or similar to make sure the name matches the address.

The money is in Paypal, thats the first thing I checked, the addresses match up on Ebay and Paypal and ive just checked 192.com and the name is appearing at the address although it says they are 17-20 (doubt it will make any difference).

I thinks its just with it being such a big item and the price that im worrying, I would have liked it to have been collected but never mind eh.

Your actually coverd better with paypal if its sent

Well I certainly wouldn't be stupid enough to accept Paypal and collection, I did make my buyers aware of his on all my auctions and its common practice really, if your collecting an item your more than likely going to pay by cash on collection.

It might be off topic but it is worth reinforcing the paypal rules in case we have new sellers on board.

You cannot refuse paypal, if you do you risk a non performing seller complaint and a neg and a small seller may find that enough to give them a 7 day ban. Also to be avoided is any mention in the listing that cheques or cash 'are preferred' believe it or not vigilante users track down those auctions purely to report them.

I have chosen not to sell large items on ebay unless they can be posted, alternatively you need a fast trigger finger to get an email out to the buyer as soon as auction finishes to bribe them into cash on collection, maybe offer a discount. However if they do pay by paypal and you return it you can't even reclaim your fees if buyer then declines to buy.

I think some people are getting too tied up in ebay policy. While you have to offer paypal as a payment option you can of course refuse to accept paypal payment if the buyer wants to collect due to the lack of protection.

All you need do is state on your listing "If Paying by paypal you must pay postage costs and the item will be delivered by courier in line with paypal policy on sending items by tracked delivery" alternatively "If you wish to collect you must pay cash on collection and this will be minus the postage cost".

What in ebay policy say's you cant do that?

Other wise that’s the same as saying if you don't offer collection on your items, as i don't as it usually proves to be more trouble than it's worth, that once the buyer pays by paypal he has the right to collect, of course he doesn't. so the op could have requested cash on collection if the buyer wanted to collect, just thought i'd clear that up for any new ebayers reading.
