CD for our wedding.

We are shortly getting married ( after 30yrs engagement, lol's). The register office have said if we supply a music cd they will play it etc.

I understand there are some programs that allow you to copy tracks from differing cd's and compile your own cd. This would be great as we cannot find a suitable existing cd with all our choices. Is there a free program I can download that will let me create my own music cd?

Windows media player and any CD burning software.
Personally I think Winamp rips audio better than media player, but once you rip the track you need, you just create an audio CD from them.

Windows media player will do it for you. Rip the tracks from the CD's of your choice and then drag them into the burn window in the order you want them.

Windows Media Player ...should be on your PC already - create a playlist from your music and burn it to a CD.

Could do the same in Itunes, any CD burning software (Nero , Roxio etc.) and no doubt hundreds of other similar programs .

I would suggest you burn it to a CD-R not a CD-RW. A lof of register offices will only have an ancient portable CD player that may not work with CR-RW. If in doubt test it first to avoid embarassing lack of music on the day.

You can use iTunes, import your cd's, create a playlist and then burn the playlist to cd

Isn't there some compatibility issues with playing iTunes CDs on some CD players?
The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.

Myself, I'd just rip to the highest bitrate MP3 in CDex (link), then compile an Audio CD with the ripped MP3's in a CD burning program, such as Nero (link).

You'd pay £50 just to burn a CD of songs for your wedding?

Who said anything about paying for software? ;)

What I really mean is, you could pay £50 if you wanted to - but there is alternative free software which will do just as good a job, such as CDBurnerXP (link).

I think Windows Media Player or iTunes are probably the OP's best bets.

They're both easy to use, and they might find a use for either one outside of burning CDs.
