OP you do need to take a degree of responsibility for children in your care. You have already said that your son rushed and must have been excited. He could have quite easily rushed into another person, a door, a buggy a wall anywhere but it was an accident. My daughter has a huge scar on her knee that will never go away when she fell rushing to an ice cream van but I didn't sue the Ice Cream Man.

If you don't want the tickets, why not sell them on and use the money to treat your son to something that he will enjoy?

When I was a kid, I dived into the pool and my mouth hit the floor, cracking one of my front teeth off. Should I sue the facility provider? No.

These things happen. Get over it.

I will now make this my final post on this issue.
I am very disappointed by the 'helpful' comments.
(I will now take myself to the corner for being a naughty parent who obviously cannot control her child's joy and enthusiasm.)
Any further replies to join in this thinly disguised witch hunt will remain unread by myself as I will not be drawn into a war of words.

To be fair OP is only asking that the windows be changed - she's not asking for compensation.

But as an earlier poster said - health and safety will most likely have passed the windows and accidents do happen.

Perhaps you could find a contact at the local H&S dept and report the issue to them and see if anything comes of it. Ultimately, though, you're going to be met with the overwhelming opinion that your child's welfare is your responsibility in this instance.

Phone one of the accident lawyers in the phone book or TV commercials and see what they think. They might be able to access the attraction's accident log and find out whether it is a common hazard or if it was just your boy being a bit unlucky. If it turns out that it has happened to others then its their fault and they should compensate you properly and change the design. No harm in asking

Quite honestly these things happen with all kids -let alone autistic ones although (and I'm speaking as the Mum of an autistic teenogre here) why on earth were you letting him run around like that. We parents know ASD kids do tend to be more accident prone and it's our responsibility to make sure their enviroment is safe -as they are at greater risk than the "average" (whatever that is) child due to a variety of factors.
I'd bring it up locally with H&S but to be honest like substandard I doubt you'll get anywhere.
Hope he's feeling better now and the dentist has sorted him out.

Write a letter to Alton Towers Customer Services and to their head office. Be factual and not emotional and let them deal with it.

You could also follow this up with a solictor if you so wish (you get a free 30mins with them to discuss and see if it is worth taking further).

There's your advice, however i do think, as the centre has passed H&S and YOU allowed your child to run around, there really is no comeback on the centre.

As many have pointed out, accidents happen.

I agree that these things happen to kids and its part of growing up that accidents happen.

I must say that these windows do seem like a bit of a silly design, though.
  • I had a chunk taken out of my leg when I was thirteen by a person who became a professional footballer. I got past him once!

Did me no harm, now go to the tooth fairy and get it fixed leech
  • Maybe the window should have had a warning sign on it.

"Warning this is a window, running into face first may hurt"

Anyway I though you were mearnt to keep an eye on your children. I was forever being told off for swinging my arms around near the glass bottles at the supermarket.
