Stevia rebaudiana
Quick question - does anyone know where to get a stevia rebaudiana plug plant or seeds to try growing my own please?
'Tis the sugar substitute plant I gather - hence why I want one....but cant find one anywhere ...despite scouring several gardencentres....
(hmmm....a peppermint plant would be nice too while I think about it....)

Owing to financial constraints, the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off until further notice.

I recall that there is some EU cr***p legislation against this plant that's why it's not for sale (It is not good for some pips so google it before usage), I grow it usually in summer and it is doing well in semi-shade. I had the seed collected from my mom's garden and I think she got it years ago before the legislation took place.
It's taste more like saccharin than sugar IMH.:pFive exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

Jekka's Herb Farm has them - she has pretty much any kind of herb. Mind you, she's not the cheapest, but her plants are first class.
(Can't give you the link as I've only posted a few times and it won't let me! Just Google Jekka's Herb Farm and you'll find it easily. The plants are of two sizes - 8cm pot is £5, 1 litre pot £6.50 - ref code is PS37). HTH0 -
Thanks for that - have asked Jekkas for copy of her catalogue for a good looksee.0

Got those details of where to get the fully-grown plant - I'd still appreciate if anyone knows where I could get seeds please - or has any spare they could send me purlease:D - as Jekkas plants are pretty expensive - at £5 or £6.50 and £8.75 postage on top....
Methinks I'd rather grow from seed and wait a few months at that price if 'tis possible...0 -
Nicky's Nursery has seeds at £2.55 for 40, not sure about postage. I've never used the company, so can't say whether they're good or not. Again, sorry I can't post a link.0

I have used them once for some hard to find seeds - delivery took about a week. Odd thing is they appear to be nothing more than a residential premises close to where I work so heaven knows where the seeds are from! :rotfl:
Would certainly recommend giving them a try though!0
