Simple question. I have sky multiroom but I also have two teles with freeview in the bedrooms. Problem is my aerial is pants therefore the freeview is as well. If I bought one of these and ran two cables from it into the bedrooms would I get a decent picture and the freeview channels?
Thick I know but you have to ask.0 -
Simple Answer, no, Satellite is designed for satellite receivers and not Freeview boxes. This kit is deisnged to receive when pointed at the correct satellite to view all the Free-To-Air channels available on the sattelite.
One other thing to keep in mind is that with satellite, you cannot split the signal and use two receivers at the same time. To do this you would need a LNB with two outputs but you are wanting something for freeview so this does not really matter to you.Things that are free in life are great, well most of the time :beer:0 -
I have this kit, bought last year for my caravan. The receiver is basic, but works well. It does have an EPG but it is limited to the current program and the next one, however to see what is on a different channel you have to change to it.
Yes, I stand corrected - you do get the basic "now and next" information, which is an EPG of sorts, but obviously not as comprehensive as the 8 day Freesat EPG, which allows you to plan your weeks viewing ahead by setting reminder flags against each programme you want to watch across the channel grid.
Most boxes will also allow you to set record flags in the grid and remotely control a VCR when connected to it with a SCART cable.
For somebody who has had no exposure to Freeview or Freesat so far the EPG issue probably isn't that big a deal, (you won't miss what you've never had!), but there's nothing stopping you upgrading the receiver at a later date if you find you need it.
A good upgrade would be something like a Fortec Passion+ receiver, which although not a true Freesat box will display the Freesat EPG, give you access to the HD channels and even record onto an external USB drive.
One of those can be had for around the £100 mark on Ebay.0 -
The smaller the monkey the more it looks like it would kill you at the first given opportunity.

These Lidl portable kits are for the many "free-to-view" channels that are broadcast alongside the subscription ones on each satellite.[/QUOTE]
Not true. They are only for the free to air channels. Free to view channels include Sky 3 and FIVER, which, although do not require a subscription, do require a viewing card as they are encrypted. The LIDL system is not capable of receiving them.RIP independent MSE.
