paid for an item twice

Hi , I went out shopping today in Harlow and bought some clothes from Dorothy Perkins. When I got home I checked my reciept and I realised the shop assistant had charged me twice for one item and I had paid an extra £10 on my debit card. I live in Cambridge so its not that I can go back to the shop. Does anyone think I can claim my tenner back?

    Yes you can,
  • oooh thats good but as I'm not going back to Harlow sometime soon do you think another store would believe and credit me. Should I ring the harlow store or the one store I'm going to take the reciept too?

I would inform the store you purchased the goods at and see what they say. You might be lucky and they will do a refund for you. Rule always check recipts before leaving the store.
  • Give the store a ring, they will have had this problem before.

It happened to me once, they couldn't refund over the phone, and did ask me to post them a copy of my bank statement as proof, but told me to go to a local branch who refunded the duplicate amount with no problems.

C.S told me that it was fine to take it to a my local store and they should have no problems refunding me my money, but I took a ref no. from them incase just incase.
I took my reciept to my local store and they had no problems refunding. ....problem solved.
