Brewers Fayre

When we go to a Brewers Fayre I'm usually driving and when we first met, OH introduced me to drinking soda water (something that Brewers Fayre pubs round here provide free - other places charge up to £1 per pint). We usually end up with a reasonable meal - not top quality but not top-priced either.Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0

you were lucky, i went for a walk recently on a sun afternoon, with the 2 kids along our local canal towpath, and stopped off at the new pub for a "treat" bought 2 halves lemonade and 1x j20 and came home with shrapnel from £7. complained to the manager about pricing and got told what to do--- so have done just that and have never returned.Give blood - its free0 -

We have one nearby and have to say that each time we've been it has been really good. Staff could've been happier on the odd occasion, but generally ok. Soda and a dash of lime comes back at 75p - and in a pint glass usually too, so much cheaper than cola or equivalent. You get what you pay for - its not intended to be gourmet food, but if it's inedible or sub-standard, complain and you'll usually get your money back. Besides, coupled with the use of the bonus Nectar coupons most of us use, we're gaining in the long run. 1000 points plus the £5 off a meal for two, usually equates to a meal for two, plus drinks for a net cost of about £4 or less!

Staying at travel inn this weekend with Brewers Fayre attached. As its Good Friday and we are meeting with Family, I thought I should book a table (6A+2C).
Phoned and got through to reception. Receptionist was polite and didn't seem to think we needed to book as Fridays aren't busy. When I insisted, she put me throught to the bar. After a minute or two of tin music, I could here the pub in the background. Eventually, someone said "take a phone number". I thought that she was talking to someone in the pub so said "Hello". Conversation continued roughly...
"Take a number"
"Hello, I'm trying to book a tabl..."
"I said, TAKE THE WOMENS NUMBER"
"Sorry, I am the WOMEN"
"Just take the WOMENS NUMBER"
"I AM the WOMEN who wants to book a table"
"Give me your number and I'll call you back"
"Can't I just book a table now"
"I'll have to get the manager"
"OK", pause...
"She's busy and will call back give me a number" (Its already 9:30 but given the fact we're staying next door and it will be hassle to unravel meet up plans, I'm going ahead but I'm not holding my breath now)
The girl's tone and attitude were appalling. She obviously though see was speaking to the receptionist but that is no excuse, no apology or change of tone when she realised her mistake...
Manager did phone back half an hour later but no apology but she wasn't as rude as the other girl. Decided not to complain until after we've had our meal but they won't be getting our breakfast trade or our custom on Saturday evening. (Taking bowls, milk and cornflakes into our room - saves money anyway!!!)
We'll see what happens but I feel a free weekend coming along....
Happened once before with pub attached to premier inn (may or may not have been brewers faye). Complete incompetence, meals mis-served in evening, deserts run out AFTER taking order, no milk or coissants at breakfast - tea still arrived in pot though whilst they dashed to supermarket, morning coffee had to be chased three times, baggettes for lunch arrived in dribs and drabs with wrong fillings. Got a free weekend out of it though and stayed somewhere in London and got good service all round. Obviously depends on which pub you go to.
Have now had our weekend away
It wasn't too bad given some of the comments. They did mess us about a bit. Forgot one meal and had to be prompted. They informed us that one of the meals wasn't available at the point of serving the others and they forgot one coffee.
Food was OK although nothing special.
No problems the second night even though they were a lot busier.
Didn't bother with breakfast and stuck with cornflakes in our room!7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -
We have been to a brewersfayre that has been terrible, but the one near us (lakeside) is fantastic, We have been in large parties and familly meals before and the food was tasty and the service was good, One or two of the staff were a bit ... well "slow" but the others did the best they possibley could. We always return and know we are going to get good food and service.0

We have just come back from a stay at Cheltenham Travelodge , which has a Brewers Fayre attached to it . We had a meal in the evening and breakfast the following morning. We thought it was good value , the full English was a tad expensive for what it was , but on the other hand it was edible. On the reverse of the bill there was a tel no to phone , answer a few questions about the meal ,and the next time you visit you could have a FREE dessert.Thye did provide activity packs for the kids and the "fun factory" was useful after their meal . Not such a bad trip on the whole .0

We have a couple near us, the food is expensive and obviously out of the freezer but the staff are great, must agree about the price of drinks though coke etc is really expensive.0

I work for a travel inn which has a brewers attached to it. Personally i think some of the food is vile and would be a tad miffed if I had paid £8.99 for it - the chicken, strawberry, mango and bacon salad for instance - I mean who the hell thought of the that combination !!Debt Free Jan 2010!(Be happy) the state of your life is nothing more than the state of your mind!
