Venture Photography

Im a photographer and the best advice I can give anyone is stay clear of venture or any other company similar. They rip you off and push people into parting with hard earned cash while their making 98% profit. I can do anything that venture do including their colour screetching which is only a few clicks of a button to someone who knows what their doing.
To give you an idea of our portrait prices: 6 x 4 - £5, 7 x 5 - £10, 10 x 8 Framed - £40
Weve been in business for 25 years and do everything digital, have our own studio etc so how can they justify ripping off good people!2010 Wins: Benecol Bag For Life, £150 FCUK Voucher, Rimmel Foundation, L'oreal Mascara, £60 worth of hair products, £100 :j0 -
Our experience of them was similar. We have been twice, the first time we were given a 'gift experience' with free picture included. The 2nd time we paid £25 for the sitting and 'free' picture. Both times we just chose the one picture. Our free pictures were 8*10, I've seen similar deals offering the 7*5 free or charging slightly more so the second time we looked around until we found the best offer.Caroline73 wrote: »Venture didn't give us the hard sell at all. I was very impressed. We only bought two 7x5 pictures.
We went to a local photgrapher more recently and got 8 8x10 pics for £150.0 -
I was warned by a work colleague about Venture last year after her bank account was raided and so I asked around when my husband and I wanted some images of our 5 year old daughter. I went to Panda Studio and paid £300 for ten retouched images and we received ALL 50 images on a disk (Only 10 were retouched but the others were great too!). Ok so you don't get any prints and its not a luxorious studio with leather sofas BUT we were there for the images and we paid £10 to have prints done at Snappy Snapps!
I guess you have to balance what you want against what is on offer and look around. I normally go by recommendations, whether its builders or hotels etc so ask around. If anyone's interested in the studio where we went then google them, they're in NW London0 -
I spent £900 in venture last year and for me it was money very well spent! i loved the photos and the frames etc! It was an awful lot of money and we probably could have done them anywhere else for a fraction of the cost but they are stunning. it's very unusual for us all to look good and happy and together! my partner works 7 days a week i work 4 and we very very rarely get time all together. i will shop around next time rather than impulsively getting them done! there was no hard sell and once we got there found out the photographer is someone my DP went to school with so spent loads of extra time with us and was really good with us!
I did haggle with the price and told them what i wanted and that i refused to pay more than x for them and it worked! If it's something you've got your eye on do shop about!! I didnt and whilst it was great and just what i wanted it was very expensive!!0 -
I'm so glad that a venture popped up near us, makes my photography prices look tiny !!
As everyone else has said .... Get out there and find a local photographer, tell them what you want and you'll be ammazed how much cheaper they are for the same or better products with no hard sell.

My wedding photographer was great and lovely and I have a friend who did some "pregnant portraits" of me when expecting small person and again he's as good if not better... and although I don't pay him for my pics (he gets to use them as promotional material in return lol) I know his prices are FAR superior to Venture or the likes...
Although I think they'd have a hard job to get me to buy any more than a free one
I don't react well to hard sales hehehe DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

I went to Doubletake and was quite impressed with them.
I have read horror stories about doubletake but when we went it was fine. Venture on the other hand - my friend just went and they are paying £450 for 2 small prints (8 by 6 i think) and I didn't think the photos are as nice as some of the ones they had at home.Bump due 22nd September0 -
If you want poor customer service, having your 70+ parents jumping round like loonies and being subjected to hard selling techniques afterwards for hugely inflated prices..then venture is the company you want.
My advice...steer well clear. Personally, I like venture, they make my prices look fantastic!
As other have said, there are lots of local, independant photographers out there who do top notch photography at good prices...hopefully i'm one of them. I don't charge an arm and a leg either.

Nothing is for free - or indeed the £25 that they and so many other would charge you for a "sitting and silly free 7x5". Think about their costs - cameras that cost £6,000 each, lighting of the same value rents, staff and relatively low throughput - it's not going to be £25!
This company is the only photographer who I've found who operate honestly Picture Proud Ltd (just search on google) They offer copyright to ALL the images taken during a session for a sensible single price and then each print is just a few pence. Most people will howver continue to be tricked by winning so called competitions and silly offers of £25 for a 1 hour session.0 -
steve - I take it you have no affiliations to that company?
