Ford C-Max or Renualt Scenic??
We are in need of a bigger car and can't put it off much longer as current car is about to die lol.
I want to know if any1 can recommend either the Ford C-Max or the Scenic? or if any1 knows which is better value for money? A Scenic would be cheaper so need to know if its worth another 1/2k for a C-MAX
Thanks
Debbie

Hi
I have a C-max, and wouldn't change it for anything(aston martin).
I looked at the Scenic but prefered the shape and design of the Ford. I suppose it really depends on cost factors, ie mpg/insurance etc.
Best to test drive both and then make a decision.
Sorry I couldn't help. xThink it's about time the comping fairy remembered where I am! lol0 -
Look at http://www.directford.co.uk ,I bought Cmax of them over internet because price was unbeatable.Great people to deal with
They take part exchange and also sell Renault.0 -
My wife is on her second CMAX now, we had the first for 5 years and it was a fantastic car (though it was an early build car and did have some electronic problems when we first bought it - all fixed under warranty). The replacement car we bought was in February, so facelifted shape, and it is just as good as the first one. Fairly economical (diesel, we have friends with 1.8 petrol that isn't good around town), a real pleasure to drive.
We considered a Scenic, but the Ford was, in our view, the better car to drive. But it is personal taste, and no doubt loads of people will also tell you how pleased they are with their Scenics. Best bet is to see if you can get both on an extended test drive - or hire one of each for a few days - to see how it copes with your lifestyle and make a choice from there.0 -
CMAX's are nice to drive. But to be fair, the Scenics have a slightly better driving position and maybe better storage too...0

They are part of the Arnold Clarke group.Terms & Conditions Apply0 -
C-max is better to drive dynamically. However the ford diesel engines are rubbish compared to Renault.
Scenic is better designed as a family car imo and is more comfortable.
Reliability wise they are as both as bad as each other.
I'd get a scenic dynamique 1.9 diesel if it was my money. (Avoid ones with a FAP filter).0 -
C Max - but has to be a late one - the early ones weren't so good.Genie

I have a 4 yo Grand Scenic (7 seats) and my father has a 2 year old C-Max (5 seats).
Both are diesels, mine a 1.9, Dad's a 1.8 (1.6 are more common)
We've just returned from a weeks holiday in the Scenic with 4 adults and 3 children. It was cosy but perfectly ok, something we couldn't have done with the C-Max (or a normal Scenic)
Things I've noticed:-
1.8 Ford is much more responsive than the 1.9 Renault
Renault appears better on fuel economy.
Renault has more head room and more room overall.
Ford is better build quality.
Ford is probably prettier, but I like the Renault.
Renault has better driving position, but is more relaxed, whereas the Ford feels more racy.
Ford holds the road fantastically, and is great fun to drive.
IMHO, I wouldn't swop my Renault for Dad's Ford, BUT, I need the space for the kids. If it was a normal Scenic vs C-Max I would probably favour the Scenic on cost, but it would be close.
You really need to drive both because they are very different to drive.0
