Cassette player - is it possible to fix

I'm almost embarassed to post on this forum as my query is a bit far from "techie" but trust someone will point me in the right direction please...
Call it reliving my youth but I wanted to play some of my cassettes, I have a big ol' Hitachi ghetto blaster, radio is fine but cassette does not work, the wheel thing does not move.
The cassette on my Denon mini system has also stopped working (its about 10 years old). Does any one know somewhere in London where I can get these fixed or are there some tips I should try myself. I've already tried cleaning the moving parts with alcohol (well - plymouth gin was all I had available) and getting rid of any dust.
Any polite suggestions please?

It would probably be cheaper to buy a new (or second hand) one, than fix it. If the fuse is ok, it could be the motor, or cog/belt. Try freecycle.0

If it worked previously, then the drive belts may have perished. If you are handy and feel confident enough it is something you can do yourself, try maplin for spares.0

Thanks to everyone - seems like ditch the idea or buy a cheap/second hand one.
The council organises Give and Take events - especially for electrical items so I will keep and donate to them - they might find a worthy home for my relics.0 -

Depending on your "techie" level, if it's only the belt you could try replacing it with an elastic band (done it before).
Doesn't last forever, but it should go for a while.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.0
