Emerging Markets funds

Options
hi there,

does anyone have any advice about any stockmarket funds that are focussed on emerging markets? i'd be looking to invest on a monthly basis and wondered if there was a consensus (or something like that) on who others use?

thanks in advance !

The global ermerging market sector and global specialist sectors are quite small so you should be able to see focused funds in the areas you want fairly easily. Remember that the risk varies signficantly with these so you cant really compare like for like a lot of the time. Emerging market funds are all about potential and accepting of significant loss. Different people will have different views on what offers the most potential. Most sensible people will hedge their bets and spread it around in the higher risk areas.

yep high risk and high reward but well worth it imo. Either do alot of research and/or expect to buy regularly over a longer period of time and maybe hold for many years.

You might invest today and see the value half or double but obviously the bet is a uptrend long term at rate greater then western markets

Theres emerging markets which is a sector not everyone covers, bric stands for brazil russia india and china and is a bit more common then middle east, etc

Theres also pacific funds which are probably safer, they are established markets but also volatile. This sector is quite well covered by a few companies and should be easy to access, ie. liquid
China also fits in this category, Japan should be but is usually excluded as it is a failed market to many investors. Australia is also covered in a pacific fund, as a tracker it would be the majority market I think
India is not pacific, I have heard of indian ocean funds but that is probably more a hedge fund thing

Try trustnet for investigating and also hl

Its possible too much attention has already been paid to this area and something obvious like Canada might be more deserving. Their currency is good, I think foreign funds would contain a currency risk in dividends but also the original capital.
£ should be weak for a while though I guess

They have performance tables on trustnet.
Nobody is really allowed to recommend funds on this board and it would be bad practice to invest off advice from someone you dont really know anyway

I would generally just go for the lowest cost tracker personally and hope to get the timing and markets right.

the only wonder fund I heard recently was neptune japan fund. He shorted the index and got 60% return
Thats real risky business so make sure you agree with his views

Baring Global Agriculture fund is a high risk but very high potential reward fund that
    includes many emerging market stocks.

    Hi,

well I'm into this one, and it can be a bit volatile, is it just a strange coincidence that sabretoothtigger has the Barings logo as his avatar?
