Friday at last and January is nearly over!! :j

So pleased to have managed to scrape through without incurring any extra debt or having to dib into savings.

    This month I've achieved:

    1. Paid £114.45 off debt
    2. Lost 3lbs in weight
    3. Not bought any clothes, shoes or handbags since the end of December

    Next month I hope to:

    1. Pay off the remaining £184.55 debt and become debt free at last
    2. Lose at least 2lbs
    3. Save spending money for March holiday
    4. Not buy any clothes, shoes or handbags

DD's payday today and I've put her board up by £5 a week. Since I informed her of this she has been avoiding me so suspect she's not too chuffed about it. She'll get over it! Hopefully, once she's coughed up her board plus the £30 she owes me I'll be able to pay a little bit more off debt for this month, even if it's just the £4.55 oddment to round it down.

Have a great weekend everyone and let's all celebrate saying goodbye to January!

Damn - got home from work to find my cat has been in a fight and has swollen paw with bite marks - he is sulking and off his food! Looks like a very expensive trip to the vet's tomorrow! I keep telling him he's far too old to be fighting at 16 - time to hang up his boxing gloves - but he won't listen!

  • So close SA - both to DF land and your holiday - what an exciting month!

How's the wounded soldier? I hope DD has got over her shock - they just don't realise when they're onto a good thing do they :D

    Have a good weekend.

    Hi all!

Thanks beanielou and Cbm - cat has recovered now. Fortunately he was ok Saturday morning, walking on his paw and eating again with no obvious sign of discomfort so he escaped a trip to the vet's. I think his ego was bruised the most!

Asked DD about board and she showed me her online bank account to prove she had sent the money through on Friday so it should be in my account today. She has got over it now and is speaking again - but don't know whether I prefer it when she's sulking, it's a lot quieter!

Don't know if I'll be going to work today as I've had a niggling ache in my right side for a week now so have phoned up doctors and have an appointment for 11.30 today. It's not worth going into work before then only to come back again so will see what happens later. I just want to get it sorted out now. Feel a bit of a fraud though as I don't feel ill just aching. Thought I had pulled something when it first started but I think if I had it would have worn off by now.

Been doing some much needed decluttering over the weekend, sorting out my mum's and OH mum's (both deceased) old photos. OH is under the impression that I've just shuffled them from one box to another but I've actually gone through them all and weeded out the ones I don't want to keep and will shred them as I don't like the thought of putting whole photos in the bin, it seems a bit weird!

I've had a low spending weekend as only been out for a coffee and just bought a book for £2, some razors and a few bits of food - less than £10 altogether.

Thank goodness January is finally over and hopefully February will be better. OH has work for the time being so it's a start. 5 weeks today I'll be sitting on a plane going to Lanzarote! :j

Thankfully doctor is pretty sure pain in my right side is just a pulled muscle but if it gets worse or I develop any other symptoms I've to go back. Can't believe I had a day off sick on National Throw a Sickie Day!! Will never live this down at work!

Beanielou - we're going to Playa Blanca. This will be our third visit there and we really love it. So much in fact that we will be returning in August for 2 weeks for my birthday.

Hi Badpenny - lovely to see you on my diary. Thanks for your encouraging comments. Feels really weird to be so close to DF now. What will I do with myself? Will be catching up with your diary later.

DD's board money has finally gone into my bank account so I've paid another bit off debt today - only £4.55 but you all know I was just longing to get rid of the oddment and round it down. This means my new total today is £180!! :j

Took advantage of the sickie day yesterday and did some more decluttering. Tons left to do though. Cupboard under the stairs is on the list for the weekend when OH is able to help/hinder.

That's great SA, being down to £180, oh if only! I'm aiming for Dec 2010, which is a few months less than I thought, just wanting rid of it now.

Have decided when I'm DF at the end of this month (excitement - can't believe I'm saying this!) I'm going to carry on my diary for a little while longer until I've weaned myself off the spending CC (the one which gets paid off in full every month) as I feel I won't be truly DF until I've done this. This will entail me waiting until the end of the month when all monies are in before I spend anything so I need to save enough to get a month in front with OH's petrol, tools, van, etc expenses (approx £400-500 a month). I'll still let him use the CC to pay for stuff, as it's more convenient for him and we get points to convert into shopping vouchers for using it, but I'll already have the money to pay for it all up front. Hope you see what I mean!
