Me and the other half are taking advantage of the Travelodge deals on at the moment and are off to Bristol & Bath in May for 5 nights. I am looking for general tourist information about the area. Whats the best sights to see and any recommendations on pubs/restaurants would be welcomed!!
I also have 2 questions in regards to train travel in the area -
1. How long does the train between Bath & Bristol take and what is the cost of a day return? I assume its cheaper travelling outwith 'rush hour'?
2. How much will a return to Tamworth from Bath cost (Going to the Snowdome for a day and planning on staying in Tamworth for the night)?
Thanks in advance for any info!!

Bristol is a great city. Lots to see and do.
"AT Bristol" on the waterside is good. Opposite that is the Arnlofini - a great arts centre / gallery. The zoo is probably one of my favourite places.
Bristol to Bath on the train is less than 30 minutes and very cheap (sub £5 IIRC)
Are you sure you want to go to Tamworth? That is a heck of a long way from Bristol. Closer, but still not easy to get to from Bristol is the Milton Keynes Xscape snow dome.

I've lived here in Bristol for 38 years and it is a wonderful city to live in. Nothing is very far away and the bus routes are pretty good, although expensive. Get yourself a good map and have a look. A good place to go is the Gloucester Road. From where it changes into the Gloucester Road from Cheltenham road (just past the Arches) it is a real old-fashioned traditional high street. With all sorts of individual shops and lots of good places to eat. Robin Hood Tavern and the Prince of Wales are both gastro-pubs with very good food.
Take yourself across the Suspension Bridge and have a walk in Ashton Park. The mansion is worth seeing as well.
The zoo is great although quite expensive to get in.
Broadmead is like any big city shopping centre and the out of town shopping centre (The Mall) is pretty standard and boring, except it has got a John Lewis.
The waterfront is good and the ferries that pop all round the waterfront are good too. You can get a circular ticket to go all round which gives you a good view of all available.
All in all, good choice for a visit. Hope you have a good time! Enjoy!
