B&B - Rome

Hi guys,

We're planning on going to Rome for a week or so and are looking for a cheap but nice (clean) B&B. I guess it's going to have to be a B&B and not a hotel as we don't want to pay more than around 80 euros per room per night.

We don't want to stay around the train station (Termini?) because I've heard that's a bit of a bad area and I'm having difficulty finding cheap options elsewhere, especially as it would be nice to be near a metro. I've looked at https://www.venere.com & https://www.lastminute.com.

Can anyone please help with B&B recommendations? Anyone stayed anywhere cheap and good in Rome?

Thanks,
RoCas

  • I have used a discount code on https://www.venere.com that got me 4% off.... got it from another post and I'd imagine it's still valid. Obviously 4% isn't a huge amount, but every little helps! The code is: BK5HX8W
Hope that helps you find a room within your budget.

I stayed in an apartment on the via cavour..near a metro and it was very reasonable. Two bedrooms, basic but clean...see it here http://www.sleepinitaly.com/apartments/cavour/cavour.html

Thank you, budgetflyer, for your tip. Bookings.net do have loads of hotels, as you say, but only 10 or so within our budget and as we're looking for "cheap" it would be really nice to get a recommendation from someone because I'm a bit wary that cheap might mean yukky.

Good site, though ... didn't know of it before.

Hi I have just booked a Rome trip for a friend and found this B+B for 95 euro per night its called the Barberini B&B I think it is part of a hotel looking at the reviews (the hotel is very posh but i don't think the B&B is but it does like nice and has good reviews. Its right in the centre, by the spanish trips in the trevi area. I found it on the vendee site but i had to click on B&B for it to come up.
If it is too expensive there is a under the tab "town house suite" is the Residenza Belli 2* b&b in the Trastevere area of Rome. This is supposed to be the real italy with lots of cobbled streets and cafes. It is over the river. Again this hotel has good reviews and is 80 euros a night! including breakfast
    I hope this helps
But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more

Hi I suggest you take a look at the TripAdvisor site http://www.tripadvisor.com/

I always check there for 'unbiased' info from fellow travellers who recommend or otherwise hotels/B&B's etc. I have used it for accommodation in the UK & abroad and I have found the results to be interesting and fairly accurate. But it's worth reading the reviews in full.

An example...last year I booked at holiday in Garda Italy, THEN checked the hotel on TripAdvisor. It had 6 reviews: three rating it as excellent & three classed it as very poor( basically they didn't like the menu) . Not a good omen but on reading the reviews I found that all six people were at the hotel at the same time!! So the comments are subjective...I found it to be excellent too.

    Hi RoCas,

We spent ages searching for a good value Rome hotel, and I recommend the Aries, a simple, friendly, well-located B&B I stayed in in December for around €65 a night - see review, also those on Venere site:-
    http://rome-hotels.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187791-d571031-Reviews-Affittacamere_Aries-Rome_Lazio.html

If you PM me your email address I can send you the 4% Venere discount, then I get a bonus point too ;) Venere are great - good, clear website, you pay when you get there, and you can reserve then cancel quite late.

If this doesn't suit you, the Termini area isn't as grim as some people make out, but has a good choice of cheap hotels.

    Hope this helps.
