Hyundai i10 vs Suzuki Alto - Who's best under scrappage?

Hi,

I'm looking to buy either of these cars brand new using the scrappage scheme but not sure which one to go for

Suzuki Alto SZ2 (5 Door) - £4,795
Warranty - 3 years or 60,000 miles
12 Months Road tax - £35
Engine - 1.0 litre
MPG (Combined) - 64.2

Hyundai i10 Classic (5 Door) - £4995
Warranty - 5 years Unlimited Mileage
12 Months Road tax - £35
Engine - 1.2
MPG (Combined) - 56.5

My research suggest that Suzuki holds its value longer better but the Hyundai has a 5 year warranty.

Which is best to get?

    i10 classic :rotfl:

Happy motoring in which ever car you choose. Have you considered saving the planet and perhaps not sending your car to the crusher or buying another used one which won't mean more raw materials being used?

The Suzuki is a nice wee car as is the Hyundai i10. I'd probably go for the Suzuki- better fuel economy and a 1.0 is fine for the size, but like you say 5 year warranty is tempting, but ask yourself the question- will it actually cover a lot of the mechanical wear and tear faults that go wrong?

For there to be used cars someone has to buy them new and someone will scrap them in the end!

i dont think so but doesnt air conditioning take 10% of the fuel costs anyhow?

Opening the windows costs fuel as well. I don't think any loss due to air-con is as bad as the comfort gained!

The Suzuki is a grand more for a model with air-con, but that is with a whole load of other stuff. You might be able to add it as an extra on it's own for less.

How long are you going to keep the car? Will depreciation be a factor or will you keep over 5 years? If so go with the one you like, or the one you feel is better value.

The Suzuki Alto only scored 3 stars in the NCAP tests, whilst the i10 scored 5 stars.

If you look at www.whatcar.com then you can see the differences between the
2 cars are next to nothing as both are 3 stars which shows the pros/cons.
