I know it's hard but try not to worry it's prob something minor - things can go wrong with any car even brand new ones!! for all you know your old car may have just packed up or be about to. Just try not to worry and get it back to the dealer.
Yes, but at least I could have got £2k under the scrappage scheme for it and had 3 years guarantee - so relative piece of mind. I know things can and do go wrong with new cars - been there and done that with my now traded in, 13 year old car which I fought with the manufacturer with for 3 years and eventually had to have a new engine as it had been factory fitted with the wrong sized pistons! Can't bear the stress of going through all that sort of stuff again but this time with only a 3 month warranty and little redress.0 -
Not sure what the fault could be. I found this site may be you could try here to get information http://www.justanswer.com/car/uk/nissan/nissan-uk?r=ppc%7cga%7c5%7cCars%7cNissan&JCRN=Nissan+Mechanics&JPKW=nissan+engine+light+on&JPDC=S&JPST=&JPAD=2994365388&JPAF=txt&JPCD=20090212-1&JPRC=1&gclid=CM_ygf7W55oCFc4TzAoduzCsCAIf i could i would, but i cannot so i wont, but maybe one day i will.0

You will need to contact the dealer and get their authorisation to take it anywhere else, the dealer should be given a chance to fix it. Take this one step at a time.0

The engine management light can mean anything. If the car is driving fine then probably next to nothing to worry about. I drove around with mine going on and off for a year. In the end it turned out to be a temperature sensor.
On other occasions it has come on and the car has started misfiring and not accelerating properly. Even then it was a faulty engine coil. Cost of repair £64. Take it back to the dealer and get them to look at it.
It is is driving fine then probably very minor problem. Just don't panic about it until you have given the dealer a chance to check it out.Iva started Dec 2018.0 -
Spoke to dealer this morning who expects me to drive it back to his garage 60 miles away and he will send it to his local nissan dealer. Refusing to pay for me to take to a nissan dealer local to me. Refusing to provide me with another car while mine is at his nissan dealer and if they don't have the part in stock this could mean several days withough the car. "Tough!" he said. This means my husband will also have to follow me in his so that I have a way of getting home incase not fixed that day. I need the car to get to work and am a teacher so can't just take days off. His solutions aren't remotely practical and I am concerned that driving that distance may cause more damage or I may break down.0

Not really the dealers fault you are 60 miles away however I think he should be a little more understanding about sorting a car out for you whilst yours is in the garage. Cheapest option might be to arrange a hire car if they won't sort something out for you, but I think I would push them on this point.0

Sorry but you really don't have any choice, the dealer has offered to repair the car under the terms of his / her warranty.
If the journey to his premises causes any further problems to the car, then that is the dealers problem.0 -
Have spoken with trading standards and they have said that car is arguably not of satisfactory quality having only travelled 12 miles and having left the garage 10-15 minutes earlier. Garage response was "the light wasn't on when you left!" I know its not his fault that I am 60 miles away but his suggestion is completley impractical for me.0

That doesn't make any difference I'm afraid, the dealer has offered to repair the vehicle, so you must allow him to carry out the repairs, or pay for repairs yourself.
Perhaps hire a car for a few days??0
