Best Deal on RAC Cover - Roadside, Recovery, At Home

Hi all,

What's the best deal for Joint Cover for Roadside, Recovery & At Home?

I have a renewal come in at £198.50 discounted to £153.50.

However, looking at their website, a new customer £138.75.

What's the best anyone's negotiated in the last month or so?

Thanx

AMO
p.s. I assume that they still have a difference between their standard cover and their solutions cover which adds legal cr*p and no claims discount at the cost of pumping up the premium by 25%?

Tell them you are moving to the AA I swap shamelessly between the 2 every year as the renew deal is always rubbish but the new customer discount is great.

Buy RAC cover using Tesco Clubcard Deals if you can.

Thanks. I can't use Tesco Clubcard as I don't have enough points although I'll get one of their credit cards soon.

I'll ring and try and get a better deal.

I was hoping that someone that got a deal recently could give me an idea of what they got.

    Thanx

After being a member of the RAC for many years ... and being annually ripped off by them, I am now a happy customer of AutoAid paying £37 (yes £37!!!) per year for the above cover.

I think last year they were £36 and the year before £34. They've been going for a number of years now.

Note that AutoAid is actually an insurance based cover rather that supplied by the RAC, AA etc. You have the work done by any garage and send the bill to AutoAid for a full refund. (You can get many garages to invoice you if you can't pay there & then). AutoAid pay out usually within 14 days and have good customer feedback.

You can either arrange your own breakdown service to attend or ring AutoAid 24 hours per day to get them to arrange someone to help you.

AutoAid only cover reasonably sized engined vehicles (max. 2500cc I think) ... no gas guzzlers! ;)

Hmm.....I phoned RAC and they noticed that a loooooong time ago I used to work for the RAC and therefore applied a 25% discount to my account.

This bought the value down to £117.13.

I assume that this is not too bad?

I just remember that the year before last I got it for £94 but I got 15 months for the price of 12. Last year I got free joint cover.

They can't do that for me anymore.

Anyone know anything else I can do to bring it down?

    Thanx

p.s. Premier - thanks for that. I know about it, but currently not willing to try it yet. My cousin's just tried it, but he's not needed to call them out. Also, when you need joint cover, its not quite as attractive right as you need to pay twice?

    Not quite.

It is personal cover (so covers any vehicle you are in at the time) but it also covers your your legal spouse or civil partner if disclosed at inception (and so included in the schedule).

It is not vehicle based cover, so does not cover everyone using your vehicle.
