    Hi Mumof3boys

Well done from me too! Its just me and my son here, but even he eats me out of house and home!

Is it just me or does anyone else find they get excited about BOGOFs and vouchers, etc?! I've bought so much dry goods and household stuff, that I'm pretty sure I can go for a £10 p/w challenge in April. Will only need perishables judging by my cupboards! :D

I also love the community atmosphere/chit chat when I go to the farmshop, market and butchers - takes me back to my childhood! Better than a sour faced and sleepy teenager on the checkouts at 8am on a Saturday!

just got back from the supermarket and realised that kitchen cupboard has quite a few packs of pasta/pulses/tins of stuff/jars etc (am quite short and can't always see the things at the back on the top shelf...)
so..decided to set myself the challenge of buying as few groceries as cheaply as possible and really use this stuff up (without cooking anything boring, unhealthy or out of date!)
Guess I'm a cooking as well as moneysaving nerd!

There's a method known as shop at home first: you go through your cupboards and freezer, make a list of what you have and then make up your menu plan for the week based only on those items on the list. So many people are in the habit of shopping without a list or clear idea of whether they *really* need it or can't remember if they already have it.

No, you are not alone!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Ali and alex - you may both benefit from popping into the Moneysaving Old Style forum
There are heaps of threads catelogued and archived in the Mega Index which you might find helpful. Lots of advice on Menu Planning and a wealth of recipes in our Recipe Index

There is a Storecupboard Challenge and also the monthly Grocery Challenge and Pin Money Savings Challenge (accrued from BOGOF's and vouchers plus other means). We discuss our Old Style successes (and sometimes downers) in our daily thread.

Hope you pop in and take a peek or two .. but do make sure you sit down with a coffee/tea/whatever before you start looking ... you can get carried away with wealth of information ;):):D

Looking forward to seeing you over there :hello:

Wow that's great news, well done! :)
Lots of small changes here and there, over time, add up to be quite a big change and you're obviously a lot smarter at getting started than all those other poor people (quite literally) in debt without a clue.
