Totally Inspired Today

I'm feeling totally inspired by all of you and thought I'd share with you how I've saved money today.

As you can probably guess from my user id - I have three boys and they eat us out of house and home.

So today, I resolved to save money and, so far, I have made my own bread, made scotch pancakes for breakfast and only used half a dishwasher tablet in the dishwasher!!

Off to save more money!!
£2 Saver Club (started 24th March '06) going towards No. 2 Son Cub trip!!
20p Saver Club (started 11th April '06) Grand Total = £135.00 Paid to Akela

    Well done!! :j

It's weird isn't it, I get the same kind of buzz from saving money as I do from spending it. Actually, it's better cos I don't get the guilty comedown afterwards! :D

    Hurrah!!!! :rotfl:

how do you do it? thats only £30 per week, does that include all milk, fruit, packed lunches etc? I thought I was doing well if I manage £60, in my family there are 6, me and oh + 18 yr son + 13yr son + 11 yr son + 3 yr daughter oh 2 dogs a 3-legged cat and a rabbit too!

    Well done totally inspired. :rotfl:
  • just got back from the supermarket and realised that kitchen cupboard has quite a few packs of pasta/pulses/tins of stuff/jars etc (am quite short and can't always see the things at the back on the top shelf...)
so..decided to set myself the challenge of buying as few groceries as cheaply as possible and really use this stuff up (without cooking anything boring, unhealthy or out of date!)
Guess I'm a cooking as well as moneysaving nerd!

well done mumofthreeboys & good luck with the moneysaving! :j

I've got 3 sons too, though the oldest one left home yesterday & I know how much food they go through!

I have started doing a lot of meals in the slow cooker since reading how great they are in old style, have you got one? I got a big slow cooker & cook double so that I can freeze half & use it on a day where I'm too busy to cook.
They're brilliant, just prepare the meal in the morning, switch it on & forget about it!

I have been feeding 5 of us for £180 a month though it was about the same as mom23's food budget (£120-£130) before I started my DMP, so it feels like alot of money now!
