Cost of divorce with children in Scotland???

Hi all,
This refers to Scotland.
My partner and his wife parted company 2 and a bit years ago.
House was sold, proceeds split and child contact agreed.
The separation agreement has now been signed and entered wherever it goes to.
Kids are 6 and 10 - my partner has them 3 nights a week and half the holidays. A very amicable arrangement. He pays 1/7 child support to his wife but has no claim for childs tax credit or child benefit.
My question is about the cost of the impending divorce.
The separatation agreement bill has not come in yet but since wife is a student now, her part is paid by legal aid.
When enquiring about divorce, she has been told that she will not get laegal aid and it will cost 650. We have been told around 800 on our side.
Does anyone have any experience of this?
My thoughts are that we should not have to use a solicitor since all arrangements are in separation agreement. The cost would then be limited to court fees etc.
We were planning to get married in August and want to make a fresh start.
Many Thanks.

I live in Scotland and have a separation agreement. All issues over finances/ child etc agreed. I was told by solicitor that it would cost around £1000 for the divorce if I wanted to take that step.0
