Quick question - how much for mursery / day care?

Quick question, hopefully - how much does it cost to put a baby into day-care / nursery / other option, and what area of the country do you live in? Just trying to help with some budgeting! Thanks.

When my DD was in nursery it was £16 for half a day £32 for a full day, that was a college nursery so slightly cheaper than private. It really depends on where you live as it can vary; if you google local nurseries in your area some have websites where they may show prices or you could email them.

    Edit: I'm in the midlands.

I pay £372 per month for 3 days a week (I'm in South Wales). And tomorrow I pay my last but one cheque before DS finishes there at the end of July (I've managed to wangle childcare between me, DH and grandparents for the days in August). Hooooorrrrrraaaaayyyyy. It'll be like the most mahoosive pay rise ever!!!! And a new (second hand ;)) car will be top of the shopping list!!! Between DD and DS I've had a child there for six years by the time DS finishes there!

But in all seriousness it's been worth every penny as it's a fantastic nursery and I've been able to keep my job (and sanity!) which I wouldn't have been able to leave and go back to, and I haven't had to worry at all about how they've been looked after.

I know that's more than you asked for but I'm telling everyone!!!

I pay £4 per hour in Oxfordshire for a childminder, they (couple) will take DD from 7am to 7pm, they will feed her 3 meals a day included. They take 5 weeks holiday a year, which I don't pay for and I don't have to pay them for my holidays if I give 6 weeks notice.

She has just moved to this childminder from a nursery, which was £42 for 8am to 5.30pm, I had to supply food on top of this and pay 52 weeks per year regardless if she was there or not.

Advantages and disadvantages to both, but actually the deciding factor was geography. I thought it would be best to have her in nursery very close to my work - but if she went on days when I wasn't at work this was a real pain. So she has moved to a childminder round the corner from our house.

    Hope this helps.
