Claim against HFC Bank for Faulty Laptop

Agreed. IF you had to pay for the repair, it would be for something not covered by the warranty, and hence even claiming against HFC would not matter.
As I said, people will try and claim under the warranty for all sorts, so all people booking it in for repair are advised they will have to pay for anything not covered. Doesn't mean you will have to.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

All 3 of these I can see being software relatedBut every three months I kept getting a message that Windows does not recognise McAfee and I have to uninstall it and reinstall it. I got fed up with it. I have got a friend who has got preinstall vista and he never had this problems.
Sounds like a problem with the Mcafee virus drivers
As for one of the USB ports on the right, well I used it to attach my mouse/printer/memory stick etc so of course it's wear and tear but it should not happen in the first 10 months. I am sure everybody do the same thing.
Again sounds like a problem with your USB driver, are you just having a problem connecting items to this USB device or is it damaged?
The Wireless switch does not work so I have hardly used it as I never use wirelessly, always connected with cable.
Have you tried doing a complete recovery using your Product Recovery Discs you created when you first turned on the machine? This should fix all of these errors.

This is a common problem with Toshiba, some also have a second switch which is activated by pressing Fn and F4 I think.

In ref to McAfee Virus drivers: I have uninstall the McAfee completely a month ago and I have downloaded Windows Live OneCare Free trial for 90days. It works so far except I kept getting a message in a box gadgets.com and money@msn.com requires to log in and password. Although I close it, it appears every few seconds. I have to restart pc. Sky tech have suggested to put a pen on the reset button of the router for 2 secs, it works for a few days and the problems occurred again today. Fed up.
USB Ports: It's damaged actually don't know how. It appeared to be physically damaged as the plastic "anchor" in the middle is missing, came off. In fact websupport@pcservicecall pointed this out to me.
My local PC shop has estimated to repair this alone is over £100.00 as they have to open the laptop and replace that port it.
Wireless Switch: Not working at all. I checked on the Connectivity Doctor and this does not show at all. No red light.
I was thinking of doing the Recovery disc which came with it as I didnot ahve to create it but i thought this should only be performed in case of a complete failure. It's a bit of a hassle as will lose all my downloads, email etc.
Now u can see why I was hesitant to send it for repairs as Software related not covered by Warranty. Nevertheless I wrote and accept to have it done under protest but has been ignored by Toshiba.
well it's their fault, the preinstall vista is not compatible with Toshiba.
Thanks for taking time to explain and very much appreciated.0 -

You have installed so many pieces of virus/security software I am not suprised there is a problem, the usb damage will be classed as accidental damage and not covered by warranty, the wireless fault is a known fault which can be fixed by performing a full system restore, there is a fault on the original image on the laptop which isnt on the restore.
trying to think of the model number you have from the top of my head, a L300-11V or something similar.

All apart from the USB problem will be fixed on a full restore0 -
and the USB unless damaged at purchase stage is your own fault.
I hope HFC hammer you with a counterclaim for their costs for what is a ridicolous case to bring0 -

There is no need to be rude towards the OP, they have obviously been misadvised from the start and dont understand the issues and the normal way to repair them, it does however show the importance of backups for these scenarios, software issues are common and can occur at any time, I personally restore my laptop a couple of times a year to keep it "fresh"0
