Ikano Financial (Ikea Home Store Card)

Hi guys

I am considering applying for an IKEA home store card to purchase some items from the store.

Does anyone have any experiences dealing with Ikano Financial who do the operations on behalf of one of their clients, IKEA.

Are they fussy who to give home store card (IKEA) to prospective customers, or are they easy to get one? I understand the APR is a respectable 16.9%, not like the high 20s or low 30s from some store cards.

Much appreciated in advance.

Why would you want a 16.9% card anyway, when if you're thinking of paying interest, you could try for a 0% credit card instead? Or a card with a better APR...

But in answer to the original question, Ikano seem to accept anyone. They took me on my 18th birthday - I signed up for a free £20 gift card, then cancelled the account.

...and yes, I know, Ikea charge 70p to use a credit card - but I'll bet 16.9% of whatever you spend is more than 70p ;)

Just watch the direct debit. If you sign up to the minimum there is a catch. If you get a bill for example £10 and you are on the minimum direct debit they will take £5. However if you pay them £5 more expecting them to take an additional £5 they dont take anything if the payment is made up to 3 working days before payment is due.. So you end up paying interest.

That's pretty much the same with any credit card - if it happened any other way people would be complaining that they'd paid off their balance then the card company took the payment again!
