Or make tiny tiny roast potatoes. Much nicer than chips.

Cut the potato into small chunks (or used peeled New Potatoes).

Cook in water till soft enough to go rough around the edges.

Put them in a colander and shake around. You want them really roughed up.

Put Olive Oil in a Pan and heat on the stove top till smoking. Don't let it burn.

Tip in the potato and take care as the fat will spit a bit

Move them all around with a spoon to ensure they are all fully coated with the oil

Cook at around 200 C till they start to brown and then turn up the heat to 210 C so they get nice and really brown. You want all the rough edges to go crispy.

Keep checking on them. (but take care not to let all the heat out of the oven) If there is a lot of oil remaining in the pan. Use Kitchen Roll to soak it up and return to the oven.

When they are nice and crispy, put them in a bowl and eat with some nice sauce. Regge Regge Tomato Ketchup is best.

You don't need chips once you have tried these.........Just make sure you wait till they are really crispy.... mmmm I have just had some now.

    Worst thing I ever bought.
    Delonghi rotofryer.
It really really stinks the house out. Last time, I had to redo a pile of washing that was waiting to be ironed( in another room) because the smell of it was so bad.
Even after a thorough scrub and fresh oil!

I dont like traditional chip pans either, but I am going to throw away the fryer and go back to this method

A friend of mine once designed a kitchen for a large new build in Glasgow. One of the client requirements was for a deep fat fryer built into the kitchen worktops. Mars Bars were not mentioned...

A word of warning about the Tefal Actifry.
I won one in a competition and have been using it since February 2009. Yesterday I loaded it with chips and set it cooking.
However, there was a b-i-g almighty bang, and black smoke billowed out of it. I screamed for OH to do something, as I could see red flames in the 'bowl'.
He grabbed it and slung it outside.
I rang Tefal straight away. The woman was concerned that no-one was hurt, and basically told me to let it cool, pack it in a box and she would arrange for a courier to collect it from me next week. Then Tefal will send me a new replacement one.
I googled 'Tefal Actifry', and it appears from various reviews that no end of them have blown up, and there is a report from BBC's Watchdog about them.

I got the compact one from Lakeland a few weeks ago. You know those times when only a chip will do  It makes one portion so it's great for times when you get the craving.

We would not be without our Kenwood. It comes completely to pieces and they can all go into the dishwasher. Including the bit bit with the element embedded.
I can afford anything that I want.

If they do catch fire, the best thing to do is turn off the power/heat, put a wet towel over it and let it cool down. Not carry it anywhere until it has cooled down.
Many years ago this happened to my mum, she opened the back door, picked up the flaming chip pan to carry it outside. The breeze then blew burning fat back over her hands and wrist...she still has the scars 30 years later.

I ended up getting a cheap tesco value fryer £12, and its great! Used it 3 times, 2 times for chips and once for wedges, and really impressed. No smell, no mess. Well worth £12, glad I didn't buy a more expensive one!

    CC limits £26000

    Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.
