My son ran up debt at our address

My 21 yr old son got in a mess financially with out us realising.
He was with First Direct who have closed his account as far as I can tell.
He has also buried his head in the sand I suspect and not contacted anyone.
I realise this is not a lot of info to go on, but he's not saying much.
He's not living with us now, but bank letters are coming here and I'm really worried that we will end up on some sort of register at this address.
I have a lot of debt at the moment but am dealing with it so I need to be able to carry on getting credit cards to swop debt around to best deals etc.
Does any one know if it's the address that counts.
Any help would be appreciated

What you need to do is write to the financial institution with his new address and contact Equifax or experian for your credit file. If your sons debts appear on there then contact them and explain that your son is not living at your address and his debt is NOT to do with you and they should remove it so it doesn't affect you.
First step though is to contact his bank and explain he has moved to another address (if you have it then give them the new address... it might make him wake up and smell the coffee if they start hounding him there!)

If you have contact with him then i would give him one last chance to sort it out. If he doesnt respond in 2-3 days i would go ahead by re-sending the letters and giving them the new address.
