Finally paid off credit card or so I thought

Options
Hi

I was wondering if someone can help me. Last month I finally managed to pay off my debt of £3000+ on my credit card. However I have just received my new statement which says that I still owe them the grand total of £3.21, I am guessing that this is interest that has been added on between them sending out the statement and me paying if off. I really want to clear this once and for all. Next month's estimated interest is 50p.

I know that a couple of quid is neither here nor there but I was wondering do I just pay the £3.21 or do I add on next month's interest to clear the debt completely or should I just round it up to £5 to be on the safe side.

This is a real bug bear with me too, I have even asked on the phone can you please give me the figure to pay with interest and it still happens. I shall be interested to see the replies, thanks for posting.

If it was me I would pay them something like £4/£5 and then when they close the account they can just refund you the difference.

I have done this with quite a few loan/credit card accounts just to make sure that they are definitely paid and the addition of bits of interest doesn't go on for ever.

    Just my opinion though.

If you pay the full bill off for two consecutive months then there is no further interest... so there is no need to overpay the 3.21... it should be stated somewhere in the T&Cs.

If you're going to pay a credit card in full it's always best to pay on the statement date. Just to be sure.

Your lender cannot give you a figure, because the bank is unable to predict the exact date on which payment reaches your account.

as someone else said...pay £4 or £5...it leaves the a/c in credit... it gives them a headache of having to refund you....lets be honest...if they gave you the exact figure to close the a/c its in their interest...if they wont oblige...the extra hassle serves them right...
