Fixing dell laptop hinges?

Options
Is there anyway to fix this? As you will see by the pic the plastic bit has come away from the hinges at the back.

they are normally held together by small screws, if you open the laptop and look at the bottom corners of the screen you will see small rubber covers that you need to prise off, behind there are the screws.

if you are lucky then they will do up and the gap will close up , worse case the plastic plugs the screws go into have broken , you would then be looking to find a new surrond for the laptop screen on ebay

at least your hinges haven't snapped like they did on my acer, now that was a pain in the bum. I had my laptop held together in a pizza box while i waited for replacement hinges to arrive! (it was an unused pizza box btw!)

After a bit of an inspection I have found the issue, Under the little rubber covers hiding the screws at the front of the screen where it joins to the hinges is like an inbuilt plastic washer, it has broke so the 2 scews have nothing to catch onto at the front to tighten, any ideas?

Can you remove the washers and replace them with new ones? All you need is the correct size and a source. Also have you tried emailing Dell with a sob story to try to blag a freebie replacement.
