I spent £10 on phone credit today which should last me about a month. I also got it at Boots and used a bonus points voucher so in effect I got 90p cashback. I bought 12 2nd class stamps for competitions and a frozen packet of yorkshire puddings for tomorrow's roast dinner for 59p.

Forcing myself to post today because the old me has been creeping out from behind the sofa.

Spent £38 in Sainsbury's, £35 of which was for a Mother's Day meal tomorrow. Am sure that I could have done a more economical meal: silly spends included c.£3 for fancy French beans, £3 on marzipan for the Simnel cake etc.

Then there was another £3.50 in the catering shop on little tartlet tins for the desserts.

Nearly had a heart attack in the florist's at the cost of flowers: 50% higher than normal. Did try to keep myself a bit under control and bought individual bunches of spring flowers rather than a super-posh bouquet. £15 later (!) I then went into the gift shop and spent a couple of pounds on ribbon as I'm going to turn the flowers into a bouquet myself. Overall it works out cheaper than buying a ready-made bouquet but still............

Not quite sure why I went so mad with the money today. I can just about afford it by juggling my money but Mum really doesn't expect me to spend lots - it really is the thought that counts. Am really going to have to think about why it's important to me to spend money like this so that I can get a grip on my spending.

Spent far too much today :o

Took kids to the cinema this morning, it was only 1.95 for each of them and then we got in free (so 3x £1.95) but then add on the drinks and popcorn and stuff... Mind you, it was fun!!

Their world book day vouchers were going to expire tomorrow so they picked a book each, all 3 came to £12.97  . Then spent £10.50 on some food and came home - phew! :D

Spent £39.34 on the main weekly shop and that included two bottles of beer for OH and he gave me the cash for it so really I have spent £36.64....and considering we budget £50 a week for grocery shopping I am quite chuffed.

    Ahhh...hang on...I forgot something.

I went to the charity shop earlier to donate some stuff. I resisted buying a piggy bank in there...my old hot chocolate jar will do just as good! (I really wanted it though, it was so cute!)

When I had finished in there I wandered into Rainbow next door and got some freedom food (RSPCA backed) cheese which I have been after for ages......then spotted freedom food eggs so got half a dozen of those as well....then got a carton of Soya milk called "Soleil" and is made by Alpro for sale in the EU (same milk = different packaging!) which was 74p as opposed to something like £1.30 a carton of 'proper' Alpro!!)

I only drink soya milk so I thought I may as well get it whislt I was there and save a bit in the long run And finally I saw a 2 litre bottle of an unknown brand fabric conditioner <which smells divine> for 84p! I think the total was £3.70 or something however this cash came out of money I got on Wednesday as cash back & I posted that on here so...I haven't spent it twice sort of thing...does that make sense?

However it has bumped the grocery shop up to £43.04 and we need a few fresh veggie things at the end of the week (say £3?) so...I guess I am actually only about £4 under budget. Sigh. Oh well - better than being over budget I guess

Staying in tonight....OH is making my favourite meal: chunky vegetable & kidney bean casserole   (He's such a honey!)

I hope everyone enjoys their Saturday night.

Feel like I've had a really expensive day today.

1.49 on Mothers Day card for OH's Mum (she likes ones with a nice verse!)
21.44 at Somerfield on BOGOF's that I would normally buy as part of my main shop (but was a bit naughty including my treat of Cart D'Or Vanilla Icecream) and also Easter Eggs x 6 for the kids (Buy 3 for £5).

Then I went to Morrisons to do my main shop which includes Sunday Lunch for 14 people! Also bought Russell Watsons new CD for Mother in Law - decided flowers are just too expensive this weekend! Spent £91.31 which feels like too much but did include the CD and cream etc that I wouldn't usually buy. Was a bit annoyed that they are doing their Easter Eggs on a 3 for £4 deal so spent £2 more at Somerffield than I needed to. Oh well, win some and lose some!

Was discussing the fact with OH that I hadn't bought a magazine for a whole month (used to buy 2 a week) and at the end of shopping he insisted that I have one to read in the bath later (one of my favourite things to do that is child-free). I saw in the Daily Express a £1 off voucher for OK Magazine so I bought that - this site has so rubbed off on me - always looking for a saving now in this 'Money Saving Game' I'm playing!!!! :rotfl:
