  • Wow, just realised I haven't posted here since June! That is ages :o.

Still I have had a lot going on, not in a bad way, just a busy way!

Saving is going well. We now have as of today £7114.90, which is real progress. I am determined for us to hit £12k by April 2010.

There is still lots to do. I have made some progress on decluttering but there always seems to be more stuff!

AnimatedBravoSmiley.gif well done on the savings :T:T
  • Thanks so much!!! I am very happy :j. I am now on £7644.90 so onwards and upwards!

I have found the best thing I have done to help has been planning meals and buying for those planned meals and nothing else. For the first time ever we seem to be running to a planned budget as a regular thing. What is scary is that it isn't rocket science!

My next challenge is that by a month today (27th November) through various methods I want to hit the £8500 mark. I also need to get in gear for doing some dooyoo reviews as I haven't really wrote much at all in the last few months. My balance is around the £10.50 mark and I need to get it higher to get some vouchers, which will help for Christmas.

Slight progress made. We are now on £7716.25!

Something drastic needs to be done to try and speed up the saving though. To think things through in detail. We basically have two ways of saving:
    1) To spend less and therefore save more from our salaries. This one is difficult as christmas is coming up and I haven't bought any presents yet.
    2) To increase our income from other sources such as ebay, dooyoo etc

Hello, just wanted to say good luck and well done on your progress so far! I', also saving for a house deposit and impatience is really kicking in - when I've moved before I've always had sale proceeds to put to a new place so never had to try very hard but this time we're starting from scratch for various reasons.

We're also on the reduce spending and see what else we can earn phase! What has worked for me is meal planning - means I don't waste food or impulse buy, taking my own lunch to work, selling stuff through classified ads - no ebay fees, Amazon for CDs and DVDs nad verytime I get cash back or vouchers from cards I am trying to make sure I either put the same amount to savings or put it in a treat fund so we don't feel too deprived. You're probably doing this stuff anyway but thought I'd drop it in incase it helps!

    Best of luck Lx

  • Thanks Louba, I like the idea of a 'Treat Fund' :D

I got loads done off my to do list yesterday (although not really the MSE one !! LOL). I went shopping yesterday and have made a good indent into Christmas present shopping (£74.95 of £405 spent). It does seem to help having a budget to work to. In fact, through some of the good deals available it looks like overall I should come under budget *hooray*. Also bought my little girl new Winnie the Pooh pyjamas from the Disney Store and she looked so cute in them last night.

I am getting my hair cut today prior to my birthday night out. That is the nice bit, the not so nice bit is how much work I need to get through before I go .

We had rubbish start to the month in terms of saving. Our birthday celebrations had a rather expensive impact! In addition we bought a £100 heater for our conservatory, which we need for having christmas dinner in there.

Still we should hit the £8500 target, nearly there!
