The crisis loan - if they are offering I would take it and go BR fast.

I would not include it in my BR though as I may want a crisis loan at some point in the future and would be more concerned about never getting one again. £8 is not a lot in the grand scheme of things, but I am well aware that £8 is a lot when you don't have it!

Also, OH managed to get a crisis loan of a whopping £200 back in Feb (as they messed up the original claim and we had nothing). Despite his requests, they are still not deducting anything from his ESA for it. Likewise with SIL - who had a crisis loan some years ago and has not paid a penny back; it was never deducted from her JSA and she has never had a demand for it despite now being in work and asking to pay it back. Its possible that they may not start taking payments from you for several weeks.

  • There is something called Community Care grant, which is a payment similar to crisis or budgeting loan but you do not have to pay it back. I received £2000+ a few years back when I needed help to move and settle down in a new area . You can use this to buy furniture , soft furnising, etc.... there is part of the form where you have to list the items( I had help filling it out by a DSS assistant and been told to put more down because you will only get an x % of every item.( I claimed £3500 and got over %60 of it). If you are able to get this than there is up to you to choose what will you spend the money on.(i.e help with your fees) I had to spend it all on furniture because I did not even had a bed. More information on jobcentre plus website. Just write in Community care grant in the search bar. Hope it's help some.

sorry everyone i didnt mean to sound ungrateful for having the oportunity of getting the money through a crisis loan, and yeah £8 isnt to bad atall, it is an intrest free loan and worth getting and i wouldnt try and inc it in br , and it is a lifeline so i am grateful.
i will write to them on monday and say "yes thank you!" and then i can get this bankruptcy ball rolling.... :j

k2nga - i just ticked the box that said i need the money to help with debts (which is kind of true!) i applied for £1000 because i heard they never give you the full amount you ask for, theyve offered me £815.
