Charge Claims Ltd.

as anyone had any dealing with this company? www. ppiclaim .net
I submitted a claim against HSBC through them some time ago. Last week I recieved a letter from the Financial Ombudsman stating that they have had no response from Charge Claims Ltd. in 3 months and they needed to know that they were going to agree with the refund terms. I sent a letter of to the ombudsman saying that it I did agree with the terms of the refund. I am unable to speak to anyone at Charge Claims Ltd (1 number just rings and rings, the other number is dead) and they have not replied to my emails. I have spoken to the ministry of justice as they are registered with them and also the ombudsman.
Today I sent a letter of to HSBC and the ombudsman stating that they are only to deal with me now and I am sending a recorded letter to Charge Claims Ltd. stating that they have 14 days to reply to me and explain why they have not dealt with the previous letters from the Ombudsman. I am also putting in the letter that if they do not respond then I assume they are no longer dealing with my claim and wont be entitled to their fee.

Sorry this is a long post bit any advice would be great and tell me if I am doing the correct thing.

Barry.

    Hi Barry

I have not actually heard of that company but aware that there are many claims companies that charge fees etc, and always best to be careful of using these.

I note you said the FOS are dealing with them now, am I correct?

If they are then anything you write to the claims company, inform the FOS of this and make sure with them if its okay to do so, as they may request for a copy of the letter also.

I understand if matters are with the FOS, then its more or less just between both the FOS and the Claims company to deal with, as the company may not respond directly to you now if the FOS are dealing with them.
So if you have sent any letters, maybe you could just send a copy to the FOS, so that they are just aware of this.

Sorry If I have mis read and I do hope this sorts out, but contact the FOS on any updates. Good luck.;)

Thanks for the quick reply. The FOS are not dealing with the company anymore. They had sent a letter out in Feb asking them if they agree with the refund guidelines, a reminder in Apr and letter to the claim company and me last week stating that this is the last letter they are sending out and if they got no reply the FOS would close the claim.
The reason I am concerned that the company seems to have vanished and I cant contact them.

    I see.....

I do hope then Barry that they get back to you and fair enough you sent a letter that is cool.;)

And you have contacted the MOJ since then I take it?
They should be able to confirm if they are still running or not but another thing you can do, is check them out on "Companies House" here:
    http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/138aacdf4ffe98096f7fbbd25dbf2690/wcframe?name=accessCompanyInfo

Write in the name of the company, and if they have moved this should confirm where.

Other than that, I am wondering if you could also contact Companies house maybe on Monday and they could give details otherwise, its a very useful site:
    http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk//contact/contactUs.shtml

Good luck and please keep us posted.;)
