in Techie Stuff
Hi
I'm looking to make the change over from a desktop computer to a laptop.
Realistically i don't really want to spend any more than £400. For that id hope to get something decent!
In terms of the techie stuff behind laptops i'm quite illiterate so it would be much appreciated for some help on what to look for.
Having searched the web and this site one that strikes out at me is the HP Compaq 6735s which fits within the £400 budget!
In terms of techie stuff with it you get:
Processor: AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core 2.1GHz
RAM: 4GB (4GB Max)
Hard Drive: 250GB SATA
Optical Drive: DVD±RW lightscribe
Display: Widescreen 15.4 " TFT (Resolution WXGA 1280x 800)
Graphics: ATi mobility Radeon HD 3200 512MB
Included Software: Vista Home Premium
Its also got a built in webcam/bluetooth
Now most of the above is just jargon to me and i haven't the foggiest what it all means!
I'd be using the computer daily most for web use so id want something that's pretty quick and doesn't drag when running multiple applications.
Any advice of where to look and what techie stuff i should be looking for?
Thanks
Adam

Generally speaking that looks fine
I say 2 gig minimun (thats 4)
160 hard drive (250)
2Ghz dual core (2.1)
Ive no problem with it (Though you might find something a little cheaper or whatever):idea:0 -

I believe you can get the exact same laptop with 3gb instead of 4gb with a slightly lesser ram etc.. for £50 cheaper.
Is it worth paying extra for the higher specs? Is it actually worth the extra for what i need out of it?0 -

is 3 1/2 hours good for a laptop?
I woudn't have the foggiest what a 'netbook' was to be honest!0 -

Unless your going to be running memory intensive programs then id say 3 gig would do just fine:idea:0 -

Oh, and a netbook is basically just a smaller, cheaper laptop, though the waters have been rather muddied of late, with netbooks that are actually bigger than the smallest ultra-portables.0 -
I've always bought Dell, no problems so far.
