Asus Eee PC 701- Problem

Options
Hey everyone,

I have had my laptop for three months now and recently I started having problems with it. What happens is whenever I log on to my laptop it comes up with a blue screen and I have spoken to pc world because that is where I bought it from and they told me to speak to asus which I will be doing on Monday and they said that it is something to do with linux because I have linux on my laptop. What I was wondering is has anyone had this problem before and does anyone have a rough idea of what the problem is.

Can't say that I've ever had a problem with my year-old-plus 701 - surprised that PC World even know what Linux is... ;)

Your best source of information is probably the Eeeuser forums - http://forum.eeeuser.com/

Sounds as if PC World are fobbing you off big-time! The retailer is responsible for sorting you out here.

You say Blue Screen, but you have Linux - can you clarify what the error actually is?
Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.

My guess is you've either accidentally switched to a full desktop, or the program that handles the tabbed user interface has failed to start.

In case of the latter, press [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[T] on your keyboard to bring up a console, then enter the following:
    sudo /opt/xandros/bin/AsusLauncher

If you are asked for a password, enter the one you gave it when you first started your Eee PC. Hopefully, this will bring the interface back, at least temporarily.

Alternatively, you could try and reset the system by repeatedly tapping [F9] during boot. This will of course delete anything you might have put on there yourself, such as documents or holiday snaps.

Wait a minute... could this thread have the answer you're looking for?
