Excellent soda crystal tip - thanks! I've had a bag lurking in the cupboard under the sink for ages and didn't know why I bought them or what to use them for - got any more ideas?

i use half washing powder / half soda crystals in the washing machine :)

use a paste of crystals / bicarb and a little vinegar (or water) apply to stains with an old toothbrush, good for dirty cuffs / collars etc

also to clean the bath i half fill with hot water and sprinkle in some soda crystals, leave a while then using a microfibre cloth clean the inside of the bath, then pull the plug and rinse
    lovely and shiny bath :)

    have a look here http://www.soda-crystals.co.uk/ :)
  • Another excellent tip - I've got loads of white(!) school shirts with grey cuffs, will try this one later.

i too am an addict of stardrops, and had to smile last weekend. oh and i have split up, and he moved into his new house on friday, so i made up a box of kitchen stuff, teatowels, peelers, kitchen spoons, corkscrew etc for ds to give him as a moving in pressie, put a bottle of stardrops at the bottom of the box, along with a bar of choccie. well, oh's eyes lit up at the stardrops.... he was so pleased........really strange cos he never used it when he lived here!

Wow! I haven't heard of Stardrops for ages - I didn't realize they still made it.

Does anyone else remember the TV advert from the 70s which had a little star dashing about the place like a fairy, saying, "Stardrops: Cleans BRIGHT round the house!" ?

  • I have some hard to clean bathroom tiles and the stardrops is the best thing i have found to clean them, all the advertised ones haven't helped! i also found it cleans up the grouting quite well!
  • This is my first post, so please forgive me if I do anything wrong. This stardrops sounds wonderful, and I'm certainly going to give it a go.

Just a warning though about the Zoflora disinfectant made by the same people. Any disinfectant like Zoflora or Dettol that goes cloudy in water contains phenols. These are harmful to cats (don't know if any other animals are affected), so it is best to avoid them if you have any pets.
