redundancy and work

hi all
could someone help please
my husband is being made redundant in middle of june,
if he is one of the lucky people and finds a job soon (end of june),will he still be able to keep his redundancy pay. he seems to think he might have to pay all/some of it back.

thanks in advance!

Once he has received the payment and left the employ of the company, the redundancy payment is his - even if he has a job to start immediately he has left his current one.

Be careful of his notice period though, if his current employers want him to work his notice and he leaves before he has finished working the notice without their consent they have the right to withhold his redundancy pay.

There can also be tax implications if he goes back to work for the same company as HMRC may then wish to withdraw the tax free element on the first 30k of the redundancy. So long as he doenst start work until he's finsihed working for the old company and he works for a different company he should be fine
