in Credit cards
I have a Visa with NatWest (which I've had since forever as I've always had an account with them). They always insist on sending a Mastercard also even though I never ever use it.
My question is that on my statements from them there is always a charge against the Mastercard which varies in amount and states Payment Protection. I've asked the bank about this and they say I have to have it as protection for my cards.
So can they do that and if they can surely it would have to be a consistant amount and not vary depending on how much I currently owed on my card if it was a 'you have to have it' charge?

you need to be a little more assertive
if you don't want a Mastercard then cancel it
if you don't want PPI then cancel it
PPI normal varies as to the amount you owe (read your T&Cs) as it cost 79 p per £100 outstanding on the card so0 -
On my statements, there is always a charge against the Mastercard which varies in amount and states payment protection [insurance]. I've asked the bank about this and they say I have to have it as protection for my cards.
Most of us buy this type of insurance in the process of applying for a credit card, but it's important to realise that the credit card and insurance policy are two separate products run by different companies.
Card holders are not under any obligation to buy PPI. A phone call to customer services should be all that's required to cancel itPeople who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0
