Hi,
This will seem like an idiotic question but ...
Having a clear out before moving have found this boxed item tucked away. I have no idea what it is or how we acquired it!!
Pls can anyone enlighten me and tell me if it's an obsolete bit of kit or if we could try to sell it on ebay to help with moving costs?
It says on the box "200 Mbps Powerline adapter" by Comtrend.
I've checked on ebay and have seen some but not sure about whether the 200 Mpbs part is an old/obsolete model.
Many thx in advance.

A pair is about £85 ish new so they aren't obsolete by any means.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0

Comtrend's powerline adapters were/are distributed by BT with their Vision box. The older model doesn't have a 13-amp socket on the top/front - instead it looks like it has been blanked off. The new model does have a socket at the bottom/front. Both models are interoperable - I have four (two of each) running on my home network.
FWIW I just bought a pair of the newer ones off eBay, brand new and unused, for £36 including postage.0 -
Basically OP they are a way of using the homes electrical wiring system to get an internet connection0

Thank you very much everyone, that's really helpful as I had no clue what these were - will give them a try on ebay methinks!
As ever, advice is much appreciated.

Hi Just noticed that biker Ed uses the above. I have a Comtrend UPA Powerline Ethernet Adapter with filter which I have been given. I want to install it but it always shows Status red and connection is limited or unavailable.
I want to use it so that I can connect to a TV in the sitting room. And bedrooms. I have a Sitecom boaster at the moment.
How can this be passed on to Biker Ed so he might tell me what I am doing incorrect.
Thanks0 -
BURN THE DAMNED THINGS. Burn them and crush them and hit them with a hammer until they're dead. They are the spawn of satan to any amateur radio operator or shortwave listener. Thankfully it appears BT have woken up and stopped installing the Comtrend PLT adapters.0

You need 2 adapters so they can work together. I can e-mail you the PDF instructions if you want.Dave. :wave:0
