Bought product which has broken and no response from retailer

Hi there

I bought a bag from an internet retailer based in China and it broke the first time I used it.

I e-mailed the company I bought it from to tell them and they e-mailed me back to ask for photos, which I e-mailed back the same day.

This was about 2 weeks ago. Since then, I have sent 2 other e-mails chasing them for a refund or replacement and I haven't heard anything else from them.

Weirdly enough, a girl on a fashion forum I post on is experiencing exactly the same problem with the broken bag and the same internet retailer and she hasn't heard anything from them either. We know that they are shipping out new orders so it's not as if they're shut or anything.

Does anyone have any advice for how to resolve this? Are there websites where you can report bad internet retailers? I wouldn't mind but I spent nearly £80 on the bag.

Thanks

How did you pay? Can you do a chargeback on your credit card?
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

I paid using my Visa card.

Can I do that? I didn't realise, especially since I took delivery of the bag?

I'd call your credit company and explain the situation to them and see if they can help.
