help please.

i bought a dishwasher today from a shop,and i gave the shop assistant my mastercard,i entered my pin and then he said its come up not verified,so he gave me both recipts for that,then he said do u have another card(as that one hadnt worked )so i did the same with my visa card and that was fine.

the thing is i checked my mastercard online and it has been taken off both cards :eek: where do i stand now??and what do i do now??

    i mean that it one of those old style machines ,where they keep one recipt and i keep the other,and he gave me them both as he said it was a mistake.

    oh right. I would take it up with the retailer as they should refund you the money on one of the cards. I would also ring up the one that you do not want the payment on and tell them that this was an error

    Very annoying, hope you get it sorted

    i am very worried though as its £300.

    what if they say no,as it was pin verified.

    at the end of the day you have only got one dishwasher, the retailer (Hope they are a good one) should recognise that is their error.

    I really think you need to talk to them first but I would inform the credit card company where the transaction originally failed asap.

    Also I would try ask others on the site to comment as this is onlymy opinion. I would go back to the retailer tomorrow and demand to get it sorted out , as it is ther mistake
  • i work in a shop and this does happen occasionally it is because the payment is stuck in the middle by streamline who authorise all payments .if this does not come off your statement within the next 24 hrs go back the shop and askthem to check it out ,if it isnt just that a simple refund is needed because it is a shop error insist they ring streamline while you are there. they will check all autorisations on your card and can also speak to the bank direct on your behalf.usaually it is just a case of streamline cancelling the payment and it then goes back into your account as a credit

    Just remember these stores are ONLY given credit card facillities after being fully vetted. Their merchant accounts are NOT given to them willy nilly. Trust any shop/store that accepts credit cards.
